Hello Guys! How are you? You guys saw Twilight movie? You know there is Taylor Lautner in the movie who is sooo hot, well and he is a werewolf too, I just love him. So why am I telling you this? Haha, no idea! Its just that the topic am taking up today is a new diet that is doing rounds, like GM, 5:2 this one is known as the werewolf diet! There you go, now you know why I told you the whole twilight deal, the name werewolf makes me think of taylor <3

So this diet is called a werewolf diet as the diet is based on the phases of the moon, you read it right, phases of the moon. As we all have studied long back that the moon changes in shape in a week, the full moon, the gibbous moon, the crescent moon and the new moon. You would be wondering why is she telling us so much about the moon, haven’t we studied it already? Yes we have, but do you remember that moon controls the oceans and the rivers with its gravitational pull? Same way its also said to control the water in the human body! Strange right. Though i couldn’t find any facts to back this claim!

So moving on to the diet plan, this plan is divided into two categories

  • Basic moon diet plan
  • Extended moon diet plan

Basic moon diet plan

The basic moon diet plan consists of fasting on one day of the month, during the new moon or the full moon day. when i say fasting, it means just water and juices, the whole day. No solid foods, seems manageable.During the fasting day your body is cleansed of toxins, and you can lose up to 6 lbs of water weight in one day. I really don’t think its losing around 3 kg is possible in a day, even if its all water weight. Here is how it should be done:

Start the diet on the very minute the moon phase begins. But if we are sleeping that time, we can get up at our regular time and continue with the diet, and if the phase begins around mid day then you can eat your regular meal till that time and start the diet with the phase of the moon and continue it for 24 hours.

One can drink only liquids. Liquids containing sugar, fat, or salt will interfere with your weight loss and aren’t allowed. That means no alcohol, no milk, and nothing that contains sugar or additives.

For the rest of the month one must exercise regularly and watch what they are eating to maintain the weight loss, and that fasting for more than 24 hours is not recommended.

My take

This one is doable but not a keeper, i mean why would you expect your body to work really hard for just one day to flush out the toxins when god has given us kidneys to do that work everyday? Plus you have to wait for the moon to be in the right phase, what if its a crescent moon and i want to wear a body hugging tee tomorrow? So, its worth a try but don’t count on it much to give you profound results.

Extended moon diet plan

The best time to start this plan is on the full moon. So, it starts with only liquids for 24 hours. The next phase is the waning moon, you can eat solid food(healthy diet) during this phase, but just make sure you have 8 glasses of water.Then comes the new moon, again, no food, just liquid this day. Then comes the waxing moon, you must eat solid food but less than you usually do. Most importantly, you shouldn’t eat after 6 p.m., when the moon’s light starts to become more visible. Wait until morning to eat again. Drinking more fluids between 3 and 5 p.m. will help you feel more full and control any cravings that strike in the evening hours before you go to bed.

So basically its just eat, don’t eat, eat and again don’t eat, so its like tricking the metabolism in a way, till it doesn’t notice the pattern, then it gets accustomed and the joke is on you.

My Take

This one looks familiar to the 5:2 with 2 days of fasting and rest of the days eating balanced meals. I think it’s doable, many of us are on some vrat or other, so might as well give this one a try, but make sure this one is accompanied with some sort of exercise and of course the 5 days you eat need to be controlled portions and healthy meals.

This one is again a restricted calorie diet,so you can give this one a try in case you have hit a plateau, it will rev up your metabolism or do it just to lose the water weight. Hope you use it wisely!
