Top 7 Grilled Vegetables And Fruits You Must Try
It is summer and the heat is killing!! Seriously! However, the evenings are the most awaited time for friends to meet up and have fun. Meet ups mean food and what is better than grilling your food? It is healthy and brings in a smoked twist to your food!! So, here is a list of veggies and fruits that you can enjoy grilled. No non-veg, so, meat lovers, kindly excuse!
1) Brinjal or eggplant
I know that you make faces when you spot brinjal in your plate but grilling it is a really good idea. It becomes crispy. Just slice your brinjal into thin slices brush on olive oil and add some masala. Grill both the sides for 6 minutes each. Be careful and don’t burn them 😛
I had grilled pineapple for the first time in BBQ Nation. It is my favourite! Yum! Do you know when you grill pineapple, its acidity gets reduced and it turns into a sweet treat. You can cut the pineapple either as wedges or as rings and place them on the grill for 3 minutes per side. Voila! You are ready to enjoy the smoky sweetness.
Aah!! Pizza! If you crave it, why don’t you go ahead with it? No, you needn’t use the oven or order from outside. You can make it on the grill!! It will leave a smoky flavour behind just like how it tasted when made in wood-fired ovens.
Want to know the method?
Take an aluminium foil and apply a bit of oil on it. Spread the pizza dough on the foil and coat your grill rack with some oil. Turn the dough upside down on the grill rack and peel off the foil. Cook it until the bottom turns golden brown. Use a spatula to flip the crust and cook for 1-2 minutes. Take off the pizza crust from the grill and add lots of healthy toppings. Put the pizza onto the grill and wait till the cheese melts. Your pizza is ready!!!
For summers there is no better fruit than the watermelon as it is packed with lycopene, which is an antioxidant and also a wonderful source of vitamin A and vitamin C. Just cut watermelon into huge wedges and place them on a hot grill and let it get grilled for at least 2 to 3 minutes on both sides. Enjoy!!
You can give a smoky twist to your pasta dishes or even your salads by grilling tomatoes. And it is pretty easy too!!! You just need to slice the tomatoes in half, apply olive oil and place them on a heated grill for about 3 minutes.
6) Corn cob
Remove the husks of the corn cobs and brush them with some olive oil and place the cobs directly on to the grill. You can take the cobs off the grill once they are done, remember not to char them! Before serving just rub on some lemon juice and salt and believe me it will be totally yummy!
Sweet potatoes can also be grilled. You need to pre-cook them in a microwave for 6 mins. Cut them into wedges lengthwise and drizzle some olive oil. Now transfer them onto the grill for 3 mins on each side. Enjoy them!
