A lot of people over the internet are promoting herbalife products for weight loss. People doing so are either promoters of the brand or are people who don’t know much about nutrition.
Let me tell you about the core products in the range.

The herbalife shake is designed such that you should be having it twice a day as your breakfast and dinner. This means that you are having nothing solid for your breakfast and dinner. How can you even imagine of skipping natural food and sticking to some processed shake? On the outer level it looks very promising. The core products seem to be nutritious but you will come to know of the truth only when you dissect the list of ingredients. Herbalife products have genetically modified corn, soy, canola and cotton seed. They have MSG added to them. They contain artificial sweeteners like sucralose. The products have trans-fat and hydrogenated fat along with artificial flavours and preservatives.
A look at the ingredients of herbalife products
Do you that herbalife has things that are not good for health? Let us have look at them one by one:
In most of the shakes and powders, soy protein seems to be on the top of the list. It is mentioned first in the list of ingredients and that means there is a heavy presence of the particular ingredient. So, the shake predominantly has soy protein.
Soy protein is known to interfere with the functioning of the thyroid. Soy protein is also known to lower testosterone in the body due to the high phytoestrogen present in it.
94% of the soy present in America is genetically modified. Moreover, it can’t be regarded as health food. It is just something highly processed! The other ingredients in the list are processed, synthetic toxins.
Mono and diglycerides are nothing but trans-fat. They are well known for blocking arteries and killing people!
Next is sucralose which is also known as splenda. Sucralose tastes just like sugar but does not have the calories that sugar contains. This is majorly due to the change in chemistry of sugar molecules with the help of chlorine. Yes, sucralose is chlorinated. Do you know that sucralose destroys the gut flora and that means disaster! Your digestion and immunity both will get affected badly when there is a depletion in the gut flora.
Many herbalife products also contain shellfish. Many people are allergic to this food. It is among the top most foods that result in food allergies. If you are allergic to shellfish you may feel dizzy, have wheezing, itching, congestion, swelling and abdominal pain.
Herbalife products have caffeine in them. Caffiene leads to hypertension, insomnia, anxiety and restlessness. Effects of caffeine vary from individual to individual. Some people may feel jittery after consuming caffeine whereas others may not have any side-effects. Herbalife tablets and pills have about 65 to 75 mg of caffeine per serving!
Milk based ingredients
The milk based ingredients present in herbalife products can be problematic for people who have trouble digesting lactose. They may have to face stomach aches, constipation and diarrhea.
Steer clear of such gimmicks!
