No prizes for guessing that you are calling me an idiot! Well, anyone who thinks can lose weight in seven days will generally be called so by all and sundry. But, if I say that you can do the impossible with just a few smart moves, then I am sure you are going to adore me for my being “Ooh! Soo smart!” Yes, I mean it; you can lose weight in straight seven days and that too by understanding what is that you are needing to have when you crave something. I had always been craving to eat so many things which I should not be eating. I always wonder why we crave all the unhealthy foods…cakes, sweets, cookies, breads and pizzas! My worst craving is of sweets… be it of any kind. Another thing that always intrigued me had been that what is the secret behind our cravings? We must be lacking something in our food that we feel that compulsion to eat a particular thing repeatedly. Recently I found the answer to my question which I would love to share with you all since I get so many people asking me how to control cravings for sugar and junk. Earlier I was clueless and didn’t know how to answer them but now through this post I am sharing what made me understand my need to eat sweet things and the best hacks I use to control those cravings. Before I write all about losing weight in 7 days by controlling cravings I have one description to give for this troublesome phenomenon… Craving is nothing more than mild malnutrition. Surprised are you? Read on, you will agree.
Well, frankly speaking, there is no harm in consuming chocolates if you have dark chocolates. What is harmful in chocolates is the sugar part. But how many of us can enjoy dark and bitter chocolates?
In fact when we crave chocolates actually it is an indication that we are deficient in Magnesium. So if we provide ourselves a dosage of Magnesium through any other healthier sources then we stop craving chocolates. Raw nuts and seeds, legumes, fruits are great sources of Magnesium. So next time when you crave chocolates, go grab some almonds and flax seeds or roasted dals and you will stay strong. Aah! yes do not forget to pack an apple or an orange in your bag while moving out of the house, to stay in control when that craving pops inside you.
Craving for sweets is indication for the lack of Chromium, Carbon, Sulfur, Phosphorus and Tryptophan in body. Now you know why this craving is so strong! But no worries this too can be controlled with Broccoli, grapes, cheese, dried beans, poultry, fish, eggs, dairy, nuts, legumes, grains, Cranberries, horseradish, cruciferous vegetables, kale, cabbage, raisins, sweet potato, spinach.
Another good way to get rid of this craving is enjoying a smoothie with some of the above-mentioned hacks like spinach, grapes, nuts, berries, curd, and broccoli. Keep your spinach cubes ready in the refrigerator (Read here how to store spinach). I personally love to store grapes in the freezer and when I crave something sweet, they come to my rescue. Just pop in your mouth two grapes and keep sucking them to get that happy feeling.
High protein foods: fish, meat, nuts, beans can help with your craving for Breads and Pizzas as you are craving Nitrogen right at the time when you are going crazy to have that one slice of bread or pizza. So what is the easy way out? quickly munch a few nuts or roasted Soya beans (read review here)
Eat Mustard and Turnip greens, Broccoli, Kale, Legumes, Cheese, Sesame as you feel like having a bottle of that darned calorie filled sugary sodas. Colas are the worst enemy of weight loss.. Beware of them. How!! Broccoli Smoothie is the easiest way to handle cola craving.
Munching and Eating “Something”
Do you know that your body is looking for Silicon, Tryptophan and Tyrosine when you “Feel like eating or munching something“? Now this is the moment to grab a cube or slice of cheese, a few nuts with raisins, few slices of roasted sweet potato, some blanched spinach, or just a Vitamin C supplement or an orange. Any green, red fruits and vegetables too are good options for making such moments controllable. I find some almonds with a slice of cheese heavenly to satiate my “Lemme eat something” moments, especially at night while working on the posts for IWB.
