Is Your Hair Not Growing? Find Out Why!
Everybody goes gaga over healthy locks of hair. Thick, shiny, soft and healthy hair is like everybody’s dream. Those who are own such hair are plain lucky! For the rest, well it is a struggle to get healthy and pretty hair. Matters get worse when they start falling. Are you too worried about your hair? They don’t seem to be growing? Well, there are several reasons for that. Find out why your hair is not growing?
Poor hair care habits
Damaged hair becomes weak and fragile over a period of time. This can be due to poor hair care habits like too much of heat styling, colouring hair with chemicals and bleaching. Such practices can affect hair that is already weak and can lead to breakage and thinning of hair.
Short hair growth cycle
All of us have a unique hair growth cycle that depends totally on genetics. The hair growth cycle remains in constant rotation. It must be noted that all of the hair doesn’t enter the same phase of the cycle at the same time. There comes one phase in the cycle of hair growth when the hair becomes dormant till the cycle repeats. Though this phase lasts for a few weeks only, for some people this resting phase can last much longer. The growth phase is mainly determined by genetics and lasts between 2-6 years. There is nothing you can do to alter or lengthen the hair growth cycle. However, this doesn’t mean that it is impossible to retain the length of your hair that grows in the growth phase.
Poor diet and exercise habits
You are what you eat. If you have been gorging on junk and fried foods, your hair can really suffer. Your hair requires proper vitamins, minerals and nutrients in order eat foods that are high in nutrients such as leafy greens, nuts, and fish. Adding a multivitamin to your diet can help in promoting the growth of your hair, skin and nails. Several multivitamins contain supporting nutrients that promote the health of hair.
The body has its own way o signalling that something is not right and a sudden hair loss can be a sign of the need of medical attention. Hormonal imbalances are known to cause hair loss. Scalp related problems like dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis and allergies of the scalp can affect hair growth.
Usage of wrong hair care tools
Apart from damage to hair due to blow drying and flat ironing, damage occurs due to hair tools like small toothed combs, the wrong kinds of brushes and bobby pins. Hair accessories that are damaged can cause breakage of hair. The same goes for combs with small teeth that can tangle hair and result in split ends. Invest in a good comb for your hair.
Can hair damage be reversed?
There are some hair damages that cannot be reversed like split ends and heat damage. There are a lot of hair care products like shampoos and oils that claim that they can repair split ends and reverse serious hair damage. But the bitter truth is that nothing works. The damage once done is done and there is no turning back. The only option left is to go in for a trim and take good care for the rest of your hair.
Take care of your hair!
