Benefits of Kickboxing for physical and mental health
Burns calories
Kickboxing is a subset of aerobics so it is a wonderful way to burn the calories. According to a research done, a person weighing 70 kg can burn 372 calories when he/she workout for 30 mins in a kickboxing class. The more you weigh the more you burn in a kickboxing class and the longer, more intensely you workout you will burn extra calories.
Keeps the heart fit
The kickboxing session begins with some warming-up for about 10-15 mins. As the session progresses you begin doing intense kicks, knee strikes and punches. This raises the heart rate tremendously. As and when you move into the target zone more conditioning of the heart occurs. The intense phase lasts for about half an hour. Kickboxing is known to strengthen the heart.
Tones the body
Exercises in kickboxing help in toning the arms and legs as well as the other parts of the body.
Improves coordination, flexibility and balance
Kickboxing improves coordination because in a session involves following a sequence of moves. Body balance may also improve as you kick with your left leg and right leg alternately. After the intense sessions, the cool down session involve a lot of stretches. The stretching done during the conclusion of the kickboxing class improves the body’s flexibility.
Improves mental health
When somebody has insulted you or has offended you, what do you feel like doing? Hitting that person hard, right? No, I am not preaching non-violence! I am talking about human tendency. In kickboxing you have kicking and punching moves that can help release anger, frustration and stress. It would be like kicking and punching your worst enemy. Also, kickboxing improves your feeling of self-esteem by raising your confidence level.
Provides variety
Would you prefer running on the treadmill or kicking and punching? Aerobics can get monotonous and here is where kickboxing enters to add some spice to your workout. You can begin at a slower pace because for beginners the high intensity and high impact kickboxing is too much to handle.
It would be advisable to consult your physician before enrolling yourself into such classes. If you get a green signal from the doc, then there is no looking back.
