low carbFor most of us weight loss is a life long journey. I know so many people who had been struggling to lose weight and when they lose they go back to their old eating habits. What to say about others even I had been in the same boat and as a result my weight plays real dirty games with me. I have realised one thing that certain ways of eating are not for everyone and low carbohydrate diet is one thing that can make anyone lose weight. Here is a Sample Meal Plan for “low Carbohydrate Diet”. I am giving veg as well as non veg options for the diet here. If you are a non-vegetarian then you have all four options but vegetarians will have to make do with just two for each meal. Nothing to worry because you can always keep changing vegetables.

Low Carb Diet Meal Plan for Weight Loss (Sample)

BREAKFAST

  • Omelette with vegetables. Cooked in butter or coconut oil.

  • Boiled eggs with butter

  • Oats cooked with vegetables

  • Mung Sprouts Dosa with coconut chutney

LUNCH

  • Yogurt with blueberries and a handful of almonds

  • Green Salad with some olive oil dressing

  • Egg or chicken Salad

  • Smoothie with coconut milk, berries, almonds and protein powder

DINNER

  • Clear soup with grilled vegetables

  • Grilled Chicken with vegetables

  • Chicken soup with mushrooms

You have to pick up any one option from the given four meal options. Make sure that you keep alternating your options. If you feel hungry in between the meals eat a slice of cheese or paneer. You can consume walnuts and peanuts but keep a control on portions.

This plan will provide not more than 50 grams of total carbs per day. You may cut more carbs and increase healthy fats over the period as you get used to this way of eating.

Here is a list of food items that you will require while on this diet. It is always advisable to keep low carb food items ready in the refrigerator and kitchen so that you are not tempted to eat all that you should not eat. I find the best way is to keep every junk food out of the pantry. So if you plan to go on a low carbohydrate diet then please shun all bakery items and instant foods.  This is what you need to start a Low Carb Weight Loss Diet.

  • Meat (Beef, lamb, pork, chicken, bacon)

  • Fish (Fatty fish like salmon)

  • Eggs

  • Butter

  • Coconut Oil (Choose Extra Virgin)

  • Olive Oil

  • Cheese

  • Cream (heavy or Sour Cream)

  • Yogurt(Read recipe here) ((full-fat, unsweetened)

  • Nuts

  • Fresh vegetables: greens, peppers, spring onions,

  • Frozen vegetables: broccoli, carrots, various mixes.

  • Condiments: sea salt, pepper, garlic, mustard

  • Dark unsweetened chocolate(recipe here)

  • Green Tea, Coffee, Herbal Tea
