Raw Vegan Diet Plan For Weight Loss-Indian Version
Planning to go vegan in order to lose some weight? Are you confused as to what you should be eating on a raw vegan diet plan? Don’t worry as help is at hand. This post provides a raw vegan diet plan for weight loss and that too an Indian version!
The basic things to be kept in mind are as follows:
- Stay away from processed food
- Stick to raw fruits, nuts, seeds and veggies
- Cook only those veggies that are tough to eat raw and ingredients like pulses
- Never stay hungry
What all is allowed in this diet plan?
Fruits and Dry fruits- Any (Raw in salads or smoothies)
Veggies – Any (Raw in salads, in smoothies or half cooked)
Nuts – Any (raw or salted)
Seeds – Any (raw)
Pulses and sprouts – Any (Soaked or cooked)
Apple Cider Vinegar – Any organic brand (It is optional, you can diet without it even)
Make a green juice everyday by adding the following main ingredients:
- Coriander leaves
- Lemon juice
Having this juice early in the morning is the best as it begins your day with detoxification and also helps in burning anything you eat during the day. If it is not possible for you to have it in the morning, you can drink it in afternoon or evening. Try to avoid drinking this juice at night before going to bed.
The diet should be 70 percent raw and 30 percent cooked.
The 70 percent raw food should include a variety of fruits, nuts, veggies and seeds because they are high in fibre and help in burning fat. At the same time such foods are rich in vitamins and minerals and provide you with lots of energy for the entire day. You can either have them as a salad or as a juice. Make sure that you don’t lose the fibre while juicing.
The 30 percent cooked food should include half cooked veggies and boiled pulses. Veggies that are tough to eat raw such as brinjal, potato, raw banana etc can be steamed, sautéed or boiled. However, make sure that they are just half-cooked.
Fruits and veggies to choose and avoid
It is essential to make a balance between the amount of fruits and veggies you eat. If you are having this diet for detoxifying, it is better to have more veggies than fruits for better results.
- Fruits like mango, avocado and banana, etc are allowed.
- Corn, soy and soy products are not healthy in the long run as they are genetically modified. However, you can have them if they are organic.
- Take sweet potatoes as they are healthier than potatoes.
- Avoid sugar cane juice when on this diet.
Tea and coffee
Slowly try to bring down the amount of coffee and tea you drink and try to stop it totally in a week’s time. It would be better to switch to green tea which is definitely a healthy option. You can add lime juice to it.
Avoid processed food completely. Though salad dressings, muesli, tofu, soy/almond milk and the kind are vegan, but they are processed. Oats are also processed to an extent. So, it would be better to limit the consumption to twice a week.
Weight loss results
The results of the diet depend on the person’s body type. For many people the first sign of weight loss would be loss of inches after all the excess water weight is lost. It will then be followed by gradual weight loss. Don’t panic if you don’t see immediate results.
The raw vegan food diet helps in cleansing the body. It is not like crash diets and need not be followed for a fixed duration. You can follow it as long as you like.
