Signs You Are Consuming Too Much Sugar
Are you careful with your diet? Do keep an account of how much sugar you consume in day? Now, you will say that you hardly have the time to keep track of that because of your busy schedule. Well, for you, here are signs you are consuming too much sugar.
1) You feel fatigued
If you feel tired constantly and reach out for something to re-energize you, there are chances that you are on a blood sugar roller coaster. Whenever we feel tired, we often tend to reach out for even more sugar to counteract fatigue and this leads to a vicious cycle of sugar-fuelled highs and lows. If you plan to cut down on your sugar consumption, you should give your body a few days to adjust. After a while you will start feeling your energy levels improve.
2) You crave sugar and carbs
Sugar is highly addictive and the more of it you eat, the more you crave for. If you constantly stay on a hunt for sugary stuff throughout the day, your body and brain get hooked on to it. The less sugar you eat, the less you will crave it. The sweetness of natural fruits will allure you more than that you got from refined sugar and artificial sweeteners.
3) You have skin trouble
Sugar can adversely affect your skin by causing skin imbalances, dryness and acne. Your skin reflects what is going on inside your body. The inflammation caused by sugar inside your body shows up on the outside. If your skin trouble refuses to leave your side, you should check your sugar intake.
4) You are depressed or anxious
Sugar contributes to mood disorders such as depression and anxiety. They are ‘sugar blues’ and are named so because sugar can put you on a roller coaster ride of emotions that are hard to get rid of till you swear to give up on sweet stuff. Apart from depression and anxiety, you might also have stress and brain fogginess. When you start reducing your sugar you will see improvement.
5) You fall sick often
Sugar is said to suppress the immune system. It impairs the body’s ability to ward off stress and illness. If you are falling ill frequently or taking medicines for things like common cold too often, there are chances that your sugar intake is the culprit.
6) You are overweight
You should know by now that it is not fat that makes you fat, the real culprit is sugar. A diet high in sugar and refined carbs can result in unwanted weight gain. If you are trying to lose weight by going on a low fat diet while still consuming carbs and sugars, you may not be helping yourself. Try reducing your intake of sugar and refined carbs and see the difference. Sugar can also affect your gut health and this too can affect weight loss.
If you have any of these signs, you should know that you are consuming too much of sugar.
