1) Leave your office work at office
Before heading home make sure that you have done the main tasks of the day. Don’t carry office work home. Just write a to-do list for your next working day and leave your thoughts in the list and not on your head. While entering home leave your stress on the threshold. Just say it to yourself that you leave all the stress outside my home and you should truly mean it.
2) Set the mood for relaxation
Avoid bright lights. Dim down your lights as it signals the body that it is time to go to bed. It will give you a relaxed feeling. Light candles and enjoy the soft glow; turn on some relaxing music as well.
3) Say good night to gadgets
As early as possible, turn off all your electronic gadgets including TV. Shut down social media too so that nobody interrupts you. Don’t log in till you have started a new day after getting sufficient relaxation. Your FB, Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram can all wait.
4) Sip a cup of calming tea
Warm beverages tend to soothe the body. You can have a calming cup of chamomile and peppermint tea. It will make you sleep really well.
5) Make your bedroom ready to sleep in
In order to stick to your bedtime every night, it is important for you to have an inviting bed. Have soft pillows, warm blankets, and a nice and soft colour scheme in your bedroom. Make the place you sleep the most awesome place for you!
6) Do light yoga stretches
Restorative yoga and light stretching will definitely help you. One of the best positions for unwinding is the child’s pose.
7) Have a detoxifying bath
Having a hot shower in the evening as it is a great way to ward off stress. Adding Epsom salts to your bath tub will help detoxify your body. Soaking in the tub is a pure bliss. However, in India most households don’t have a bath tub. In that case, even a warm water bucket bath would do.
8) Try doing a visual body scan
You can make your relax by focusing on yourself. Simply lie down on your back and scan yourself mentally from the top of your head to your toes. You need to visualize each and every part of your body. Stop anywhere you feel that there is stress or discomfort. Breathe deeply while mentally holding that part. When you feel that the part has relaxed, you can move on to other parts. Also remember that you should not judge while scanning your body, you just need to give love to your body.
Try all the above ways and slowly imbibe them into your daily routine. You will see a lot of difference 🙂
