Weight Loss Hypnosis: Does it Work?

Today, am going to talk about something which is not very established! Hypnosis… Yeah, you read that right, there is also hypnosis for weight loss! Did you guys know? I came across this when I was searching for some weight loss related apps on my phone. Need some motivation I guess. So I found an app, it’s called weight loss hypnosis (blah), I downloaded it for trail. Guess what!! I was not motivated at all!
Here is how it went. I downloaded the app, it required you to listen to it somewhere in dim light, with calm surrounding, where you need to be relaxed while listening to this. With all, I have heard of hypnosis I thought what if I go into a trance and not snap back (hehe). I decided to hear it in the night before sleeping and would get up all motivated (I know what you are thinking). So this soothing voice tell you to relax and asking you to relax your finger and toes and all the works, then starts off with how bad food will only make your system bad, it is of no use to the body and how it is anti-nature all that. “It’s like 1..2..3..4..5 now you will not want to eat junk” I almost laughed (no offence).
It is said that the subconscious mind is more potent than our conscious mind, but it works only when it is given repeated instructions, the instructions have to make an imprint on the subconscious mind for them to work. Thus, the conscious mind’s role to make sure that only the highest quality thoughts gain entrance to the subconscious. When we fully understand that whatever thoughts and beliefs gain entrance to the subconscious will eventually manifest in our life, we become very diligent in monitoring and directing our thoughts. So, hypnosis is a method where our subconscious mind is tackled and that mind is given instructions (that’s what I understood from what I read)
Hypnotherapy helps you learn how to like what you eat, after all, weight loss is a journey and not a short term phase. I mean when am dieting I just make do with an apple for dessert but what I would have really liked is having a 5 star. So this thought of looking at food as comfort is what my subconscious craves and my conscious mind which knows how hard it’s going to be to burn it off says just have the damn apple and sit back! But, sometimes people find it difficult to establish a happy relation with food and just treat diet as a punishment, end result you will give into temptation big time and cry over it later. Why am I telling you this? Well hypnosis will work to improve this trait in you. It helps you make better choices and not feel deprived, like in the above example would like to eat an apple instead of the 5 star after this therapy.
A good Hypnotherapist will make your subconscious more strong and help you to achieve your weight loss goals by rekindling your relationship with food and exercise. But there are a few points to remember-
Find a good therapist, not some rip off.
You must be prepared for the hypnosis mentally.
The need to change must arise in the first place.
You need to go there with an open mind and soak in whatever your therapist is telling you to do
Daily practice of techniques suggested by therapist
Know this is a permanent change and accepted way of life.
These are some of the points that you must follow to have a successful treatment.
Though these treatments have not been established, the results vary person to person. Like I said an open mind is the only solution for this therapy to work.
If you ask me, don’t go for the apps or CDs unless you have a good amount of control over your mind, it would not be sufficient. Like in my case, I just went in for fun, just to try it out, so it didn’t help me one bit! I guess my subconscious has the diet and exercise work funds etched into it! But if you are sure you can do it, go ahead, let me know how it went for you and what exactly I dint do right.
