2 Day Post Diwali Detox Plan-Day 1

Diwali Detox ChallengeHiiii Everyone 😀

So Diwali fever is over and now we are all dying of guilt… “Yaar itna meetha kyu khaya?” If you are standing in front of mirror and tucking your tummy in like me with tears welling in your eyes, then it is the right time for you to take back the reins of your health in your hands. Whatever done is done now be with us for a two day Detox program which will help you clear out the clutter from the body as well as mind. Believe me darlings, a clean body always carries a clear mind and will help you sort out your lives better.

So are you all ready? Yes, I heard a loud YES…  🙂 One word of caution… This plan is a meal replacement plan which means you have to just consume what I am going to share with you. If you are not a fruit and leafy green lover then I am sorry but this or any Detox is not going to work for you.

Welcome to my world of a yummy green detox.

Early Morning

hot water lemon

Wake up to a glass or two of warm water with lemon squeezed in it. That will give you a perfect start to your Detox. That reminds me to let you know that for the next two days on Detox you will have to drink only warm water. Take out your flasks darlings and keep refilling it with hot water. Where there is a will there is a way. Remember that keeping your body well hydrated is the key to a healthy detox!

Walkout or Workout

While detoxing you should avoid heavy workouts but a brsk thirty to forty minutes walk or Yoga is surely recommended. This is important because we need to keep our body warm. After any celebrations our bodies tend to slow down a bit and we feel sluggish (aftereffect of too much heavy and calorie laded foods).  Go for a few rounds of SuryaNamaskar (Details here)

Breakfast (8-9 am)

If I say that today we are not going to eat anything… okay okay I can feel all those angry eyes already on me… yes but that is the truth… we are actually not going to eat but drink every meal today. No I am not talking about juicing your vegetables and fruits, we are going to enjoy the whole vegetables and fruits in the form of “Thickies”.

Green Breakfast Thickie

green thickie

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 cup double toned milk cold to your liking. You can use coconut milk too.

  • 10-15 leaves spinach soaked in hot salted water for five to ten minutes then cleaned under running water.

  • 4 tbsp oats

  • 4 almonds

  • 2 dates

  • Half banana

Method

  1. Blend oats, almonds first in a dry grinder then add chopped dates.

  2. When these mix well, add banana. Blend well.

  3. Then comes the turn of spinach leaves. Blend all these ingredients into a paste.

  4. Transfer this paste in the blending jar and add milk and water.

  5. Blend very well for 2-4 minutes until smooth or as smooth as your mixer blender allows.

This will make two glasses of thickie for you. If you feel that you cannot have both the servings together then have after a gap of some time. Detox doesn’t mean staying hungry. Add more water if you find it very thick. If you feel that the thickie is warm, you can keep in the fridge. You can also replace half of the water with ice if you want real cold.  Add the ice at the end.

Snack (11 am)

orange

If you are addicted to coffee, these two days of Detox are the best to give up caffeine. Instead of coffee go for green tea. In fact here is a reminder that you can have green tea any time of the day. Add lime and black salt to it.  Rich in antioxidants, green tea is great to boost metabolism.

If you’re feeling a strong urge for some crunch in mouth before lunch, enjoy an apple. Apple being rich in fiber can do wondes to your detox and control your hunger pangs.

Lunch (1 pm)

Fiber-rich salad recipe

cabbage salad

If you are working individual, you can easily carry this salad in a leakproof container. Carry a little extra so that if you feel really hungry at work, you have extra food to eat instead of giving up and falling prey to your temptation of what all others are eating.

  • Half head mixed green and red cabbage finely chopped and blanched in salt water.

  • 1/2 red, yellow and green bell peppers each finely chopped and diced.

  • 1/2 pomegranate seeds

  • 1 big cucumber finely chopped

  • 1 medium tomato chopped finely

  • 30 gm fresh paneer crumbled

  • 20 seeds roasted peanuts

  • 1 tsp flaxseeds

  • 2 tablespoons coriander chopped

  • Salt and pepper to taste (pack in a different container to be added later just before eating)

Mix all ingredients in a big bowl. Add salt and pepper just before eating. If you want you can add lime juice also just before eating. If you want you can have a glass of Nimbu Pani after this but remember no sugar allowed.

Snack (3-4 pm)

In the evening between 3-4 pm take out an orange and a guava. If you like to have guava with Chaat Masala, you can have though better will be to avoid excess salt also. Just enjoy while you work or gossip. Tea time can be enjoyed with a cup of green tea or a glass of buttermilk.

Dinner

Okay here is a good news. We are going to have a no-cook dinner. If you are single, you will be happy but if you have to cook dinner for the family then also I have an idea for you. Keep reading.

Boiled Chickpeas Thickie

chick peas

  • 50 gm low fat curd

  • 1 carrot grated

  • 1 slice green pumpkin chopped fine

  • 1 slice papaya finely chopped

  • 1-inch piece of ginger chopped fine

  • A pinch of chaat masala

  • lime juice to taste

carrot chickpeas smoothie

Throw all the ingredients in blender and churn well. Add chaat masala and lime juice in the end. Drink in a glass or relish it like a soup, all yours to be treated anyway ou wish. For a twist in the taste sqeeze in half an orange for heightened flavour. 🙂

Aah! yes, I had to help you out with the family dinner too.

Bean-Salad-healthy italian food

Make a nice Chick Peas salad with some added onions and tomato. Serve with a cup of tomato soup and a brown bread toast. No way are you allowed to touch that toast and soup today. Enjoy your thickies for today. 🙂

If you work till late and feel hungry late at night go for a cucumber munching session.

So that was good enough to call it a day. Hopefully you will wakeup lighter and fresher tomorrow morning. Do let us know how did your day go. A word of advice… Hunger is all in the mind… control your mind and you will be a happier person. Cheers.. 🙂
