4 Evening Habits That Help In Weight Loss
When you are on the weight loss track, there may be lots of things that lure you to give up your healthy habits. Throughout the day you may have to face such situations that will try to put you off track.
Your colleague would have brought sweets to celebrate the birth of his daughter or your office friends would have zeroed in on a pizza party for lunch. Kaput! There go your healthy eating choices! If you would have somehow fought the unhealthy eating battle and won it, you would have to face new challenges at home! Everyone likes to rewind after a long day of work and if your relaxation is clubbed with bad eating habits, your day long struggle to eat healthy can go down the drain. Don’t think that by eating healthy during the day you can do whatever you want in the evening.
Here are a few rules to be followed that will help you stay on track during evenings:
1) Go for evening walks
Going for a walk any time during the day is beneficial but evening walks have special benefits to offer. After a long tiring day at work, your energy is drained out. A small walk is bound to rejuvenate your senses and pep up your mood. You can improve your body’s metabolism for the remaining hours of the day. Walking has a lot of benefits to offer. It will keep you fit, alleviate stress, reduce the risk of hypertension and other illnesses. It will also help you burn calories. A 30 minute walk is all you need to shed the extra kilos. If you are not too much into walking then it would be advisable to begin with baby steps. I mean to say that you should keep your walk short if you are a beginner. Say about 10 minutes would be fine. Slowly you can increase the duration of your walk. Initially keep your pace slow too.
2) Stop snacking after dinner
While relaxing post dinner, you might have the tendency to snack. This can occur subconsciously. It is time you take charge of yourself and be aware of your habit of opening the kitchen cupboard often. If your snacking habit is due to boredom or any other lame reason try to move out of the kitchen or sip some peppermint tea. Identifying the food triggers can help you in curbing your cravings and prevent overeating.
3) Your choice of snack should be wise
If you happen to eat an early dinner, you can feel hungry by the time you decide to sleep. In such cases there is nothing wrong with eating a healthy snack late in the evening. Keep it light and make sure that what you eat will not disrupt your sleep or let your entire day’s effort go waste. Late night snacking can also be done in a healthy way. 4) Brace up for some quality sleep
Getting some quality sleep can help you get sufficient energy for the next day’s workout. Studies also show that people who don’t get quality sleep end up eating more than people who get sufficient sleep. If you sleep well, you will be making healthy decisions that will be good for your health and for your waistline. Make a night time routine. Read a good book or sip some herbal tea. There are several other ways to relax too. Do whatever makes you feel relaxed and ready for a good night’s sleep. Tuck yourself in bed and say goodbye to all your worries. You will wake up rejuvenated the next morning and will be brimming with enthusiasm.
