When we hear the term ‘Arthritis’ we instantly link it with the elderly. But that is not completely true, even people in their young age can suffer from this disease. So, let us know about arthritis, its symptoms and the foods to eat and avoid.

Trans fats can be really bad for you as they are linked to chronic inflammation. You need to keep its consumption as low as possible. Vegetable oils that have too much of omega-6 fats should be a strict no-no as omega-6 fats are known to cause inflammation.

Food that is cooked at high temperatures such as food that is grilled too much (blackened), fried or barbequed contains harmful by-products called Advanced Glycation End (AGEs in short). AGEs are highly inflammatory substances and can damage your bones and joints, making your arthritis worse if you are already suffering from it.

Instead of cooking the foods at high temperatures by deep frying it would be better to cook it by stewing, boiling, or steaming. This will help in minimizing the amount of (AGEs) formed in your food.

Vegetables including potatoes, tomatoes, brinjal, peppers are all nightshade vegetables. They contain trace amounts of alkaloids in them. Alkaloids may result in calcium deposits in joints, tendons, ligaments and cartilage. These contribute to the inflammation and joint pain. If you already have arthritis things can get worse.

Consuming sugar is known to worsen the condition of arthritis patients. Sugar loaded foods need to be avoided.
