Post Workout Meal India : Millet & Oats Upma
Hello Fitness lovers,
I am back here with yet another interesting recipe which I usually have post workout to ensure that my body gets the right amount of nutrition and energy boost required after a tough workout session at the gym.
Well, post workout meal is certainly very important because of the fact that the body needs energy for the proper body functioning and to ensure that the energy retained from the food we eat is healthy enough for the body, we should stick to eating only highly nutritious food items which are rich sources of essential vitamins & minerals.
Well, I am talking about Millets & Oats Upma post workout recipe which I usually like on days when I feel like having South Indian food or Poha in particular!
I usually mix more millet and less oats in this recipe!
Oats is a significant source of dietary fiber. This fiber present in oats is a mixture of about half soluble and half insoluble fibers. The soluble fiber content is even proven to be quite effective in lowering blood cholesterol which is a great health benefit.
Well here is the things required-
Ingredients-
- 1 cup millet
- 1/2 cup oats
- 1tsp mustard seeds
- 1tsp Cumin seeds
- 1 red chilli ( whole)
- 8-9 curry leaves
- 1 small onion (finely chopped)
- 2-3tsp Oil (any cooking oil of your choice)
- 2 cups water
Method of Preparation-
- Firstly mix the oats & millet together in a ratio as to millet is more and less amount of oats.
- Now take a pan and put oil in it.
- Add mustard seeds, curry leaves, whole red chilli, onion and saute for a minute.
- Add water and also add millet and oats in the pan.
- Cover the pan and let the mixture cook on a medium flame.
- Your Millet and Oats Upma is ready. Have it with a glass of buttermilk and it is a very healthy and filling combination meal to have post workout!
