2) Green veggies to the rescue!

Studies suggest that a higher intake of green leafy vegetables helps you in reducing your BMI. There are two reasons for this. Firstly, green vegetables have fewer calories and contain a large number of juices, preventing fat accumulation in your body. Secondly, they accommodate a large number of fibers, which digests slowly and in turn making your stomach feel full.

3) Exercise!

Well, the most obvious answer to obesity is to exercise regularly. An excessive workout isn’t needed. Rather, just the amount to burn the extra calories ingested by you. The best workout I’d suggest is to go for a walk, preferably in the morning, of about 2-3
kilometres. This will help you burn calories on a regular basis.

4) Be a sleeping beauty

Studies show that inadequate sleep leads to the secretion of a signal hormone ‘ghrelin’ which increases appetite and hence leads to overeating. The right amount of sleep helps you to remain healthy and counter many other diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes and many chronic diseases.

5) Reduce the intake of packaged food.

Everyone is talking about the packaged food items containing a lot of calories. A study shows that people who follow a diet of ultra-processed foods eat about 3000 calories a day. This is around 500 more calories than what a person who followed a normal balanced diet would consume. This shows how harmful packaged food items are. Cut down your consumption of fatty and sugary foods to live a healthy carefree life.
These are the basic steps one must follow to restrict obesity. Around 5% of people in India suffer from obesity.
