Best Workout Music – 90s Bollywood Edition
What is a good workout without music pumping your hands and legs for motivation? A person can work out with 15% added effort if there’s good music playing in their ears. Now, won’t we want that?
Here’s our list of absolutely fantastic, unfortunately forgotten Bollywood songs that will get you excited to workout.
1. Tamma Tamma Loge
Watch the video for some simple almost aerobics-like steps that will be great for your warm up! I mean you could definitely do 1:30.
2. Ye Kali Kali Aankhein
If your body does not automatically groove to this song, I judge you. The step at 1:10 is so simple, do it with your children and they will dance away to glory.
3. Ole Ole
Feast your eyes on and dance with Saif Ali Khan in his glorious youth. The Ole Ole step will have your gym management ask you to volunteer for their Aerobics programme.
4. Tu ‘Cheese’ Badi Hai Mast Mast
If you watch this song closely, it’s actually a full body workout. The day you feel like skipping the gym, follow the dance routine and stay on track!
5. Chamma Chamma
The boob-shake is necessary in this song. If not while doing your workout, make it a point to do this step while in the shower.
6. Gupt Gupt
This is my favourite weight training song. Each rep goes perfectly with the beats. Try it. Lip sync and you will unknowingly add a few reps!
7. Dance of Envy
The dance of envy is a great workout in itself. It starts with a slow warm up and picks pace. I would suggest you listen to it while switching from one exercise to another. 1:25 onward my favourite part begins!
8. Le Gayi Le Gayi
Yes, yes. I am repeating Dil Toh Pagal Hai but… the movie is about dance and the soundtrack is brilliant! I cannot help it! Do this when you’re doing body weight workouts. The slow pace of the song will help your breathing and counts.
9. East or West, India is the Best
For Saina Nehwal, for Milkha Singh, for Sachin Tendulkar, for yourself. Have this song in your playlist, you must!
10. Saat Samundar Paar
Skip to this song if you’re doing on any Cardio machine. The first bit is enough to get you warmed for your workout!
Feel a little EDM (Electronic Dance Music) kicking in? Exactly. 90s was the birth of boom. We just don’t give it enough pumps!
12. Main Khiladi Tu Anadi
The ultimate Cardio song! I suggest you get off the treadmill before the ‘Ladki Dekhi Muh See Seeti’ part because personally I can’t resist doing those steps.
13. Husn Hai Suhana
Perfect beats, a little rowdy pump and those faces that Govinda makes, this song gives the best full body workout. The ‘Goriya Chura Na Mera Jiya’ is a personal favourite!
14. My Adorable Darling
There is actually no limit to how much I personally love this song. Once I did a 50 minute workout with this song on loop.
15. Dholi Taro Dhol Baje
In the spirit of Navratri, here’s the Original song that makes our hearts do Garba.
16. Nimbuda Nimbuda
Where there is Dholi Taro, there has to be Nimbuda. Yes, I see you nodding your head in approval. Very good.
17. Chaiyyan Chaiyyan
I personally like this song on Leg Days. Your hips are in a comfortable space and the movement along the beats to this song just gets smoother by the minute.
18. Ruk Ja O Dil Deewane
If there is a hottie in your gym, secretly sing this to him. I have done it. There is no more fun and running on the treadmill while he does his reps, is the best! (No less a music video, I should add)
19. Khambe Jaisi Khadi hai

20. Jumma Chumma Dede
Laximikant Pyarelal’s finest composition will motivate you to workout especially on those lazy Fridays!
21. Yaar Bina Chain Kaha Re
To be honest, this song is great if you’re on the Elliptical machine. The one ‘pump’ we do in it blends perfectly with its beats. Whoever said the Elliptical is boring!
22. Koi Yahan Nache Nache
Live the old school Disco with this song and boost up your cardio session!
23. Bol Baby Bol, Rock and Roll
Shake your booty, do the bounce, walk with a strut. This song will recharge you for your next exercise.
