Can Eating Bananas Hinder Weight Loss??

Yes, it has carbs, about 30 g in a medium sized banana, 8 g come from starch, 19 g from sugars and the rest of it from fibre.
In spite of being fat free, it does have a high sugar content. It has 76 calories from sugar which is 69 percent of the total energy present in a medium sized banana. Just like carbs, natural sugars are broken down into glucose. Once the glucose meets your energy needs, you body begins storing the excess glucose in the form of glycogen in the liver and skeletal muscles. This stored glycogen can be used later to meet energy needs. If your glycogen storing capacity is exceeded, the rest gets stored as fat. But generally, excess calories from any food source can lead t increased storage of fat. Even though it has sugar in it, bananas are a better option when compared to cookies and processed stuff. So, when you get the urge to eat something sweet, grab a banana as it has nutrients as well as fibre that have an essential role to play in a healthy diet.

Eating bananas as a part of a balanced diet will not make you fat. A medium sized banana weighs about 126 g and has about 0.87 calories per gram to offer. This is because they have a high water content in them. About 94 g of the banana’s weight is water. The fibre an average banana contains is 2.6 fibre. Foods like bananas that have fibre in them can help in management of weight.
Generally speaking, eating too much of anything can lead to gain in body fat, even if you happen to be gorging on healthy foods. Too much consumption of bananas or any other food can lead to weight gain. When you consume more number of calories than you burn, you end up creating a calorie surplus. The excess calories then get converted into fat and you end up gaining weight. To avoid weight gain, you need to monitor the intake of calories. It would be better to choose low calorie foods like fresh fruits, veggies and make regular exercising a part of your routine.
