Can You Lose Weight With Egg Fasting?

I have been going crazy since a few days, my weight has stalled again, ooh yeah again 🙁

So I was looking for a stall breaker. Those who are knew to FitnessVsWeightLoss, a stall breaker is a short term diet plan which lasts just for a few days say 2-3 days or max a week. These are special diets which push your weight down if you are stuck for a long time. But these are not sustainable for a long period of time. Either these diets will be crash diets(extremely low calorie) , extremely low carb(net carbs under 20 grams) or these will devoid you of a lot of foods, so you won’t be able to hang on for long !

One of the known stall breaker is Egg Fasting. In this fasting, you can have only 4 things –

1. Eggs
2. Butter/Coconut oil/Ghee – used in egg dishes. You can have butter stick standalone too.
3. Cheese – used in egg dishes or standalone.
4. BPC

I have not added mayonnaise in this list since the mayonnaise that we get in the market has a lot of carbs in it. Here is the recipe of homemade mayyo that you can safely use.

How to do Egg fasting ?

I started Egg fasting yesterday, I have eating, walking and talking eggs – Eggstacy, Eggsauhsting , Eggxample,Eggcetra, Eggscuse me please 😀 . You must eat eggs all the time as main source of fat and protein.There is no limit to eating eggs. Before starting this egg fasting, I thought I will be able to have 12-14 eggs a day but I crashed at 8 eggs yesterday. And I had to literally push down last 2 eggs down my throat ! Some people feel satiated with 4-5 eggs a day. One of my HE friend said he had 13 eggs a day on Egg fasting. So, you can have 6-15 eggs a day. As per my experience, 8-12 eggs a day is a good number for females.

Now some rules for Egg Fasting

  • 1 tablespoon of butter for every egg you eat. If you are making omelettes, use butter to cook. If you go with boiled eggs, have them with a dash of butter.

  • When you wake up in the morning, have an egg within half an hour.

  • Have an egg every 3-5 hours even if you are not hungry. You must not exceed 5 hours.

  • 1 ounce cheese per egg is allowed. Please note that you can’t have cheese spreads which have sugar/carbs added for flavour. I use Birtannia or Milky Mist cheese cubes/slices.

  • Organic eggs are preferred since they are full of omega 3 fats and vitamin D.

  • Have your last egg 2-3 hours before you sleep.

  • Drink a lot of water, atleast 8-10 glasses. I consumed 4-5 litres of water yesterday.

  • If you have to have a drink, have 1 diet coke/pepsi in 3 days of egg fasting. Or squeeze a lemon in cold water, so refreshing it is !

Can You Lose Weight With Egg Fasting?

I think yes. I am 600 grams down since yesterday. Egg fasting is definitely a stall breaker. But it causes weight loss on a long term or not , it is too early to say, since I am done with just Day 1. I will do egg fasting off and on next month and keep you posted if it works wonders 🙂
