It is the peak of winter and despite all my good intentions I have yet not been able to restart the weight loss efforts with full josh. But yes, I have started taking my walks seriously as there is a load to be shed. A long time back, when I started walking for exercise, I used to feel very conscious on the road. Now when I think of those days of 2011 and compare them with my present walking speed, I feel that I was not walking but strolling. I find a need to prepare my customized walk plan to lose weight. So I am doing it will you take the first step with me?
In all these many years, I have surely graduated from walking on the slow mantras and bhajans to the fast beat of Bollywood songs and trance music. Mashups and Trance Music can really help you enjoy your walk speed, must try once.
During those days I walked hiding behind the trees and bushes so that other morning walkers couldn’t see me. (So much for my low self-esteem). In my initial workout days, I looked for exercise videos on YouTube but used to find it difficult to do any of those high-intensity workouts. That was the time when I found the “WAH” Walk at Home program of Leslie Sansone.
It is still my favorite workout program. This program is being run by various trainers though due to reasons unknown Leslie Sansone is missing. Seven years back, “WAH” helped me build stamina. I was in my forties then and had the better joint condition. Today in my mid-fifties, I need to do better with my knees and hip joints and this program is always there to keep me moving safely. Right now my aim is to keep my joints soft and pain-free so walking in any way is something I can always vouch for.
C2to5K was another program that can help a lot to lose weight but due to my RHA issues, I didn’t want to take any risk. If you wish to go for the Couch to 5k program then you can find various podcasts and apps online for free of cost. I like ‘Chubby Jones C2 to 5K Podcast”.
Nowadays, walking outdoors and indoors on a treadmill is what I am doing along with Walk at Home program. My Mi-fit app shoes these graphics and keeps me motivated.
Make your customized walk plan in India to lose weight
Now let us see how you can make your own customized walk plan in India and lose weight in a better manner without hurting your joints. An app or smartwatch can easily motivate us to walk more than a day before daily. A walking or step counting app or a smartwatch or a fitness band is fun to carry while you walk. It can actually change your daily walk routine. The first step is to get hold of a good smartwatch or step counter app so that you can get feedback on your efforts. Just open the google play store and search, you will find the various good walk and step counter apps. I have a Mi smartwatch which works along with its app and I love to use it.
As we all know that we need to walk 10,000 steps every day to lose weight with surety. Let me tell you how I am planning my 10,000 steps daily walks.
- Walk 1… 2000 steps with 2 miles Leslie Sansone’s walk at home program.
- Walk 2… 2000 steps on the treadmill after completing household chores.
- Walk 3… 2000 steps after lunch I plan to walk in the park that is in front of my house when there is no one there. (Beware of Omicron)
- Walk 4… 2000 steps Leslie Sansone 2 miles walk in the evening after tea.
- Walk 5… 2000 steps after dinner again in the park when there is no crowd.
Well, this might be sounding very doable but I know it becomes difficult to complete schedules as planned. Doesn’t matter, as sometimes I know I might struggle to complete even 5000 steps but that doesn’t make me a failure. Remember there is nothing we cannot do in life. All we need is to push our boundaries and come out of our comfort zones. That is the secret of being a successful go-getter.
So I am challenging myself and you as well to at least push yourself hard enough when there is health at stake. As I always say, life is good if you are happy from the inside. Walking makes me happy and believe me a healthy you will always be a happy you. So let us Love life, Live Life, and walk off the unrequired part of you out of your way to feel the joy of doing something for your own self.
