Detox Water: Is it a Magic Concoction!

Today am here with a new topic on detox but with a twist. A trendy and colorful twist to your water… sounds yum right?! Let’s get started…

What is Detox?

A detox is a process of releasing the toxins from the body and hence making it more sustainable and clean. There have been debates regarding how effective is the detoxification process or if it is just a scam by fitness industry, well if you ask me, When we follow a process of detoxification with the aim of only ridding the body of toxins it works, but expecting weight loss specially fat loss, can’t be too sure it works that way. How you dump your body with toxins and expect veggies and fruit to reverse the effects? So, it is just an added help to your liver and kidneys, treat is as a help and not a solution, good to go.

Now, that we I’ve made my point, I’ll give you a low down on the fast catching trend in fitness, the detox water. There are many people who find it very hard to gulp down gallons of water (water is detoxifying by itself too) So to increase the nutritional value of water and to enhance its taste making it more palatable we add fruits or vegetables to water and drink that water throughout the day, but be sure to change the fruits and/or veggies after 3-4 refills.

Below are a few combinations you can try as per your need:

cucumber mint detoxCucumber-Lemon Water:

  • 1 cucumber sliced

  • 1 lemon sliced

  • Few mint leaves

  • 1 liter of water


Just fill a bottle with water and add half the slices of cucumber and 4-5 slices of lemon and a few mint leaves.


Helps in eliminating water retention and improves digestion.

Strawberry-Apple Water:

  • 2 strawberry sliced

  • ½ lemon sliced

  • ½ small red apple sliced

  • 1tbsp honey

  • 1 liter of water


Fill the bottle with water and add the honey, mix well, put in all the fruit slices.


Keeps skin supple and provides a healthy glow due to cleansing of the digestive tract by honey-lemon.

 Cinnamon-Apple Water:

  • apple cinnamon detox½ apple

  • 1 tbsp. of apple cider vinegar

  • 1 tbsp. of lemon juice

  • 1 tsp of cinnamon powder


Fill a bottle with water and add the apple (sliced or diced), add in apple cider vinegar and lemon juice and lastly the cinnamon powder.


Burns fat baby! Its cinnamon and lemon and apple cider, this is a fat burning mix! Basically, it regulates the sugar in the body so will take care of your cravings and hence induce the fat loss :p

These are just a few combinations you can try, you can add veggies too, but I am not a big veggie fan and don’t even trust the growing techniques used. So let me give you my personal detox recipe… I make a liter of green tea, and fill it in a bottle, add lemon juice, about a Tbsp. of honey. Then I just chill it in the fridge for some time and sip on it throughout the day. But that’s just a liter and not more. When used for around a month excluding Sundays, I noticed my jeans fitting nicely, so I guess it helps trim your waist line! OHK.. You guys can thank me now J

Some points to remember:

  1. Drink at least 2-3 liters of this water for at least 5 days a week.

  2. Do not expect immediate results.

  3. This is just a detox and not a fat loss solution!

  4. Make sure you refill your bottle with fruits and/or veggies after every 2 liters, as the fruits and/or veggies will lose their nutrients in the 1st fill and keep losing as you refill the bottle, hence make sure you change the veggies/fruits.

  5. Wash the bottle daily before new fill, you don’t want mixed flavors or unhygienic bottle.
