Drastic Weight Loss-Why Doctors Are Against It?
Weight loss on your mind? Yes, that is why you are reading this post!!
These days a lot of people are asking the same question all the time-
I want to lose 10 kgs weight in one month, how to do that, please give me tips!!!
Weight loss is a lifestyle change and cannot happen without putting in efforts. Most women think that there is magic wand somewhere that can help them become slim in no time. I know it is embarrassing to be moving around with extra kilos and bulges but you should love yourself and your body. Only when you love yourself you will take the right step for it. Yes, people might be calling you names and that must be depressing you a lot. It is definitely hurting but remember that all this will not matter when you start working towards your weight loss goal the right way and how can you forget slow and steady wins the race!
Okay so that was my personal opinion. Now let us talk about what experts have to say about weight loss.
Why are doctors against drastic weight loss? Why do they suggest a slow rate of weight loss?
The main concern that doctors have with drastic weight loss is that it takes heavy efforts from your end in terms of exercise and diet. The efforts can be unhealthy and difficult to maintain in your daily routine in the long run. In short, drastic weight loss demands lifestyle changes that are impossible to hang on to on a permanent basis.
The typical weight loss recommendation is 0.5 to 1 kg a week. It may seem a pretty slow weight loss pace but it will be helpful in the long term in maintaining the weight loss. You see, half a kg of fat has 3,500 calories. So, in order to lose half a kg in a week, you will need to burn 500 calories more than you consume in a day. Simple maths! 500 calories x 7 days equals 3500 calories.
Also, losing a lot of weight at a rapid rate is not right as you may not lose as much fat as you would with a modest pace of weight loss. You might be losing water weight or lean tissue because it is difficult to burn that many calories of fat in a short time period.
However, in certain situations faster weight can be safe if done in the right manner. For instance, doctors themselves would recommend very low calorie diets to patients suffering from obesity to help them lose some weight, if they are having serious health issues due to the excessive weight. But extreme diets of this kind are done only under medical supervision and keeping this weight off can be difficult. If you are obese then please visit the doctor and do things the way he says.
So, I guess I have been successful in driving home the fact that you should not try rapid weight loss on your own. It might even backfire on your health. The best thing is to consult experts and not fall for certain weight loss gimmicks like meal replacement shakes or weight loss food. Try losing weight in a holistic and natural manner. You will actually feel the difference when you discover the lighter version of yourself!
Be wise and don’t go in for drastic weight loss!
