12 Foods for Maximum Weight Loss
(During Covid-19 Lockdown)
Dear All,
It is said that we are what we eat and keeping in view the ongoing lockdown 2.0 due to Covid-19, this statement will be really proved. So, to help everyone make right food choices without going out much, I have jotted down a list of foods for maximum weight loss during lockdown 2.
These foods will help you to rip fast. If you are fit and healthy, you would still want to become healthier :). Include them not only in your meals, but your lifestyle forever. These will bring you good health and weight loss too !
Almonds
Almonds are high in protein and help to build muscle. They are healthy snacks. I generally take 7 soaked almonds in the morning. You can add them to practically everything in our Indian meals.
Walnuts
Walnuts along with almonds are called king of nuts. They have good fat and keep us full for long time. Thus , they help in fighting cravings.
Eggs
Eggs contain rich protein – albumen. This is my favourite food item on the list because they are so versatile, can be cooked in many ways. They are more effective in building muscle and also burning fat.
Beans and Sprouts
Black bean is said to be the most nutritious beans. Beans help to fight various diseases like obesity, cancer, high blood pressure etc. Beans are rich source of protein and fat. In addition to beans in daals, I love sprout salad and bean bhel( tomato and onion chopped in beans along with spices, yummy J )
Oats
Oats are rich in fibre and low in cholesterol. They are good for breakfast as well as for late night cravings. Always choose unsweetened oatmeal for maximum benefits.
Olive Oil and Coconut Oil
Olive oil is well known for its health benefits -lowering cholesterol and curbing food cravings. Another good alternative is Coconut oil. It is extensively used for cooking in South India.
Milk and Cheese
Milk and cheese are known for their nutritious value. One should consume dairy products which are as lightly pasteurized as possible. The high heat during pasteurization destroys nutrients along with bacteria.
Yoghurt
This is my favourite dairy product. Yoghurt contain probiotics(good bacteria) which help with digestion.
Whey protein powder
This is my favourite protein powder. It gives the most protein for the fewest number of calories. It is versatile and can be added to breakfast items, shakes , smoothies , cereals etc.
Leafy Green Veggies
These are low in calories and rich in fibre, vitamins and minerals. These help in flattening stomach. Include them in your salad or your main course ! You can read about buying in bulk and storing cauliflower for future use here….
This is how my veggie shopping looks J –

Madhu , you talking about milk 😛 ?
What hemp?
Ana , hemp is a seed. I have seen it as an ingredient in supplements.
oh! how does it taste?
you can eat some not so tasty things for health 😛
Woh to bhaut saari hai ..then why will i buy one more ..lolz
😛
Hemp is also called flax. You get flax seeds in any organic section of supermarkets. Just roast them without oil or microwave them for a min and grind them coarsely. They have no taste. You can add in your rotis while kneading dough or in your cereals. My family and I love it in oats. They have high doses of good Omega fatty acids. Good for veggies like us who cant eat oily fish.
Oooh Preeti, i have not seen flax seeds in my near by supermarkets. Somehow i felt the taste when i take them with milk. Omega 3 fatty acids are wonderful for weight loss. N you are right, they are the best choice for veggies 🙂 . Thanks for the info 🙂
24 letter mantra is an organic food brand and I’ve seen it in Star Bazar. Check if you have one in your area. Nature’s Basket is another shop which stocks organic products. For folks living in Bangalore, Nilgiris stocks their in-house brand for flax seeds and flax seed powder.
In Bombay, it is also available with local kirana shops. Its called Alsi in hindi. (Sorry for posting multiple replies!)
Arrey Preeti, this is a space to dicuss :). You need not be sorry.
I will get it today anyhow. Never had it in oats. I always mix the hemp powder to flour.
We always mix it in veggies and have.
Haan.linfact evens spoon ful a day does alota gud…
A query..does whey protein powder help in weight loss and how much of it should we take daily?
Shweta, if you are working out in the gymn , only then take whey protein. We should target 50 g protein to start losing weight.
I am going to introduce you tomorrow to a simple tool where you can see how much protein, carbs and fat you need for your body 🙂
Flax seeds are very good for health , and nuts are a great thing to munch on between classes 😀
I luvvv munching nuts :).
Hi Tarun, which whey protein brand would you recommend ?
There are so many available on various websites, that it gets confusing!
Bhakti, dont look at the brand. Markeeters fool us showing us the brand. Look at the nutritional values given at the back side of bottle. Choose a one with low or minimum carbs and sugar.
I loooooove most of these..except oats ofcourse…I dunno y ut I cnt stand them..I’ve even tried those masala ones but I can’t get myself to like it…I feel like m eatin cardboard!
Zee, if you toss oats with onion n tomato , it will taste much better. Even i dont like oats in milk.
Never buy the flavored ones, they are too processed
Zara, I eat oats in form of dosa – dry roast, grind and mix with sooji n rice flour..can add chopped veggies n dhaniya to make them taste n look good…they taste yummy…:-)
Nice. This is a new way to have oats. Thanks Anju :).
sure Tarun, am glad could add my little bit to this great forum…:-)
