Researches are still going on Guggul to have more clinical evidence of its effectiveness on weight loss. . In the year 2004, American Journal of Clinical Nutrition stated that with Guggul’s oral intake of 750mg/day , there was no noteworthy weight loss.
Another research was carried out at SPARC – Swami Prakashananda and Ayurveda Research Centre in India. This research showed that Guggul consumption with diet and exercise results in weight loss. Out of 36 people, 7 lost more than 22 pounds in a month !
Dosage and side effects
Ayurvedic practitioners suggest 2-4 grams Guggul per day for weight loss. It must be taken with hot water.
Some mild side effects are known as a result of Guggul consumption. These are nausea, upset stomach, rash, skin allergy.
