Women have to face a lot of stuff like hormonal ups and downs of the monthly cycle, mood swings, menstrual cramps, headaches and a lot more. (Very difficult I tell you!) Women are more likely to develop urinary tract infection than men. The reason of this disparity is unknown. Statistics say that 1 in 5 women will get a UTI (urinary tract infection) in her lifetime. Most infections are due to the overgrowth of E.coli bacteria in the urethra or bladder. Cranberry is said to prevent the bacteria from sticking to walls of the bladder or urethra making it difficult for the infection to develop. However, once the bacteria establish themselves, only prescription antibiotics can help you get relief.
Drink a minimum of a single 8 ounce glass of cranberry juice a day. Choose a good quality brand of cranberry juice.
Ginger is best for nausea due to PMS or morning sickness related to pregnancy. It is even helpful in fighting the nausea due to chemotherapy in cancer patients. Dried and powdered ginger is said to provide better effects. Include ginger in your food and see the difference.
3) Green tea
Green tea is a regular in most households these days. The green tea business has boomed in the recent years. It is said to be great for losing weight. A 10 year old Taiwanese study says that those who consumed green tea nearly had 20 % less body fat than people who did not consume it.
Apart of keeping weight in check, it is also known to ward off cancer. However, the studies have been done on animals and not on humans.
Generally, you should drink green tea to stay healthy and in shape.
Cinnamon is a commonly used spice in the Indian kitchen. It is a warm spice that is good for cold and congestion. It is a great remedy for digestive problems such as nausea and diarrhoea. Sip on cinnamon tea to enjoy its benefits.
5) Mustard greens
Women usually have bone related issues in later years. Thus, it is essential to take care of bone health right from a young age. Mustard greens are said to have calcium in them and build stronger teeth and bones. They have vitamins and antioxidants that prevent ageing and diseases by fighting free radical damage.
6) Fatty fish
Fatty fish are said to be high in omega 3 and vitamin D. Both of which are essential nutrients for the body. Regular consumption of fatty fish like salmon, herring and mackerel can reduce the risk of dying from heart disease by 33 percent. Omega 3 also reduces the risk of arthritis which is a rather painful condition.
Most of the foods mentioned above are good for men too. There is no hard and fast rule that men cannot consume the above foods.
