Healthy Homemade Khakhara Recipe

Hello every one!

There is so much awareness about health and fitness now days. People have become health conscious specially girls are very particular and want to remain slim and trim. But one thing I would like to clarify slim and trim body doesn’t assure a healthy body. Your energy level tells you how much fit you are. You need energy to remain active throughout the day and able to take the challenges of the day, which comes by eating healthy homemade food.

Cooking is my hobby and I feel very good by making healthy food for my family and friends and love to share the recipes. I will be sharing some healthy recipes with you all which are very easy to make at home. I have a special concern for working ladies who don’t get time in the morning to cook and rely on cooks. I will share some easy to make healthy recipes which working women can make on weekends and enjoy with the family.

This is my article at IWB and I am sharing a very unique healthy recipe. My first healthy recipe is Multigrain spinach Guajarati khakharas.

Healthy Homemade Khakhara Recipe

This quantity of ingredients can make up to 10-11 khakharas

  • Multigrain flour (1part of each wheat flour, Soya flour, barley flour, Jowar flour, Ragi flour)-1-1/2 cup

  • Spinach leaves-100 gm

  • Carum seeds (Ajwain)-1/2 tsp

  • Haldi-1/2 tsp (Optional)

  • Oil-3tsp

  • Salt to taste

Mix salt, carom seeds in the flour .Wash spinach and chop thinly. Put 2tsp oil and knead into soft dough. Cover with the damp kitchen towel and keep it for 15 minutes.

Now take the small portion of dough and roll into very thin disc (like chapatti) as thin as paper. Heat the tawa it should not be very hot .Put the chapatti on the tawa and cook on low flame. Press the chapatti either with potato masher or with kitchen towel. Keep rotating the chapatti & brush little oil on both sides and cook on both sides till it is light brown and crisp like papad. Cool and store it in an air tight container.

You can eat khakharas as it is or with any dip, pickle, Jam, chutney or with peanut butter. It is very healthy and good to carry along when you travelling. Carry them to office and eat them as your mid-day meal.

P.S- You can make various combinations same way like Methi Khakharas, garlic khakharas, masala khakharas etc. You can take only wheat flour or can take combination of any flour according to your convenience, taste and availability.
