How to avoid weight gain during Work
Hey everyone, so some of you must have started going to office again after a long wfh. Not all of us lost weight during lockdown, though some have surely done a great job. With the offices re-opening, weight gain is again going to be a big issue with most of us.
Weight gain at work is very common, especially in today’s world where everything is computerized and our jobs also require us to sit in front of the screen for 8-10 hours. And sometimes the work gets so hectic, that it takes a toll on our health and many of us start gaining weight. Even I am one of you, but then what to do; we cannot just leave the jobs and start walking right 🙂 . The workplace is often conductive to overeating, especially on days when we are so stressed with work and also staff birthday parties. And also due to inactive nature of the job.
How To Avoid Weight Gain During Work
Do Not Stop Moving
Even while working light activity is still possible. And it also helps in stiffness and soreness in the muscles which is caused by sitting whole day in a single position. Australian researchers found that people sitting at their desks more than six hours a day are nearly twice as likely to be overweight than those who sit for less than 45 minutes a day. Sitting continuously is a silent killer. Whenever possible walk around the office and take the stairs. You can always fit in walking during that lunch hour 🙂
Beware of Emotional Eating
Work can be fun as well as stressful and challenging, and often we are binge eating not because we are hungry but because of the stress. We all suffer from it at some moment. Instead of emotional eating try some other ways like listening to some beautiful music, talking to a friend or eat something healthy instead of sugary or junk food like an apple, etc.
Plan and Bring Your Food Along With You
Plan your meal in advance and always bring it along with you. There are days when we do not plan in advance and end up eating fast food. Fast food is the go-to lunch choice for many professionals simply because it seems to be the quickest and most convenient option when under a time constraint. While it may take a little extra effort, packing your own lunch can offer a huge payoff. This way you will consume fewer calories.
Drink Plenty of Water
Sometimes due to work pressure we do not drink adequate water. Drinking enough water will not only keep you hydrated, but also will keep your mind off coffee, soda and prevent you from eating more and reduces fatigue.
Get plenty of Rest
We crave high sugar and high carb foods when we need an energy boost, you may be craving those because you are tired and not getting enough sleep. Getting enough sleep will help prevent those cravings during the day and an added bonus, it will help body burn more calories 🙂
Trying these simple tips works a lot; do not let your desk job be the cause of your weight gain.
