How To Burn Maximum Calories Without Running On Treadmill?
With New Year approaching, everyone seems to be in a party mood. I somehow am enjoying gym workouts despite celebrations tempting me all the time 😛
Today I am sharing with you all how to burn maximum calories without running on treadmill. One piece of advice – if you have back problems or back aches very frequently, please don’t try this.
This way of working out on treadmill burns more calories because you would be walking on an incline. This is great for obese or highly overweight people who can’t run. Running for a longer time can cause damage to knees of such people. Hence it’s in their best interest to walk and shed weight.
I tried to walk incline for 10 minutes at 2 different inclines and speed. Look at the result below –
Scenario 1 –
I burnt 75 calories by walking at speed 4.5 km/hr and incline level 11 . In this case I covered .72 kms distance in 10 minutes. 4.5 kms/hr is neither fast nor too slow of a speed. Do not get confused by the number .15 in the middle, its my pause time. I paused to click the picture 😛 . You can not expect to click on an inclined plane, I did not want to fall backwards at all 😀
Scenario 2 –
I burnt 110 calories by walking at speed 5 km/hr and incline level 13 . In this case I covered .87 kms distance in 10 minutes. 5 kms/hr is almost the same as in previous case. .45 , the middle number is the pause time again to click .
In this case, interesting thing is you burn almost 10 calories in 1 minute. It’s great to see the counter progressing quickly.
A few tips –
Do not leave your hand from the handle. You could fall backwards in no time.
Do not go beyond 30 mins. I burn approximately 310-320 calories in 30 mins if I work out as per Scenario 2.
Take tiny breaks if your legs, back ache.
If your heart beat goes beyond 160, take a break of a few seconds and resume again.
The pause time is usually 60 seconds, so make sure you resume before timer hits 60 else your workout would end and your statistics would be reset. Otherwise, you would need to start afresh.
If you feel dizzy, please stop immediately.
30 mins cardio is no way light. So please don’t try it empty stomach. Make sure you take your pre-workout meal at least 30 minutes before workout.
If you are a beginner, start with 10 minutes of cardio and 5 incline. You can gradually increase speed, time and incline!
