Now that your baby is safe in the cradle, it is time to look at your hips and legs. You would have packed on a few extra dress sizes for the sake of your baby. If you do not take off this baby weight from your body soon, it will just become harder in the future.

Do  not diet

You would be already stressed out and if you pull out your favorite desserts from your menu, you would be more depressed and this would increase the weight. Eat for your hunger and have a balanced diet too. Do not eat less than 1,800 calories. Remember, you are eating for another being too. Stay away from red meat and eat a lot of fish as much as possible.

Exercises

You are not supposed to do any strenuous exercises before completing 6 weeks as a new mom. Simple stretching exercises, walking and pelvic floor exercises would be helpful.

There are still debates about whether breastfeeding has considerable effect on the weight loss. But, some studies have quoted that breastfeeding would help the mothers remove the baby weight to some extent. As a matter of fact, it is better to breastfeed to keep you away from cancer and keep the baby healthy.

Do not do it alone

Get to know about anyone who wants to lose their weight. It would be better if you meet someone who wants to lose their baby weight. Team up with them and do it as a group. This would help to reduce the weight more effectively.

De-stress

You cannot lose all your weight in a week. You need to be patient. Have a good sleep and keep away from stresses. The best way to de-stress are;

a)      Hot water bath

b)      Yoga

c)       Meditation

d)      Take a good walk with your baby

Drink a lot of water

Drinking 10 to 12 glasses of water is found to aid in the weight loss. Do not add flavor or sugar to it. It is also good to have a glass of lemon juice with honey in warm water in the morning or gooseberry juice with salt in the morning.

There is no shortcut to losing the baby weight. All the cravings for ice cream and happy treats would have made your baby, cute and you, fatty. You need to start to take baby steps right from the beginning. In the initial stages, walking for five minutes would be a big start. It is better to increase the time by five more minutes for every week. Do not workout for more than 30-45 minutes.
