Many things can put you at risk for a torpid hypothyroidism, from genetic predispositions to an autoimmune disorder called Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, a condition that occurs in 80 percent of those with hypothyroidism in which the immune system attacks and destroy the thyroid by producing antibodies. Myxedema is the life threatening  condition of hypothyroidism due to extremely low levels of thyroid hormones which can lead the person to lose consciousness or go to coma.

Thyroid  can be detected with a simple blood test and thyroid can be won over with right prescription. Lower than normal T4 levels mean the person is suffering from hypothyroidism. And if someone is having increase thyroid stimulating hormone while having normal T4 levels, it is the condition of subclinical or mild hypothyroidism, which is the early stage of hypothyroidism.
