Mc Vites Digestive Biscuit Review
Hey! Am back with another product review, this time it’s got nothing to do with Oats! It’s a digestive biscuit, this one is from Mcvites, yup the one where Bipasha Basu moves around the office eating this digestive biscuit and other people are exploded with white flour on the face… yup, you get that…
So, though I am not such a fan of digestives I gave this one a try, sheer goodwill of hobnobs I tell you, I have earlier tried Britannia Digestive and Alas! I really did not feel anything good about it. It just leaves you with a salty and oily after taste. And the nutritional chart at the back gave me a shock, God knows why it’s called healthy.
Coming back to our Mcvites Digestive, these biscuits are just a bit sweet and slightly salty. Actually just a hint of salt and sugar, they are crumbly and don’t have any oily aftertaste on your tongue. Though not a huge fan of digestives I liked these for their texture and multiple use, like you can just put them in a mixer, make it into a flour and use this flour to make a cupcake or cookie, healthier than maida. These are versatile.
The ingredients that go into making these biscuits are:
- Whole wheat flour- 15.3%,
- Wheat bran- 2.5%,
- Oatmeal- .56%
- Edible oil,
- Sugar,
- invert syrup,
- salt,
- malt extract,
- and the works which we don’t understand :p
With that amount of wheat and whole wheat flour we surely have a very healthy biscuit here, that surely doesn’t mean it is low in carbs or anything, buy hey anything without maida in a biscuit is a healthy choice. So Don’t hesitate looking at the carbs in it , these are good carbs, not the bloat inducing devil.
Below is a little break of nutritional value of the top tea time biscuits that we generally have:

With that laid out, you can see how healthy is this digestive compared to the others, am not saying it’s the healthiest out there, but with the macros on this one really being a better choice it simply wins by a fair margin.
Hope this review was useful to your Chai breaks, hope you enjoy this digestive as much I did, and that coming from a digestive disliker (that’s not really a word) is a thumbs up!
