Nargis Fakhri herself says that when she entered tinsel town, her body frame was so tiny that most people wanted her to eat! In spite of being thin I was not unhealthy. She kept her weight low because in the modelling world in the west, they prefer thin women. She is happy that there is no pressure to be very slim in our film industry. When she puts on weight she decides that it is enough and she becomes careful about her diet and opts out of junk food and hotel food. She considers herself lucky as she is able to come back to shape just by correcting her food intake.

She makes sure that her body gets sufficient fluids after all staying well hydrated is the secret of a glowing skin. She drinks 2 litres of water on a daily basis and also sips on tender coconut water. Her diet is quite simple as she has a meal every two hours and munches on almonds, walnuts and dry fruits to control hunger pangs. Her meals are light but she loves indulging in desserts and dark chocolates. Let us see what she has during the day in detail:

  • For breakfast she has two fried eggs with cheese along with a ham sandwich.
  • Snack1 of the day is 2 chocolate bars. 😛
  • For lunch she has salmon, chicken or some other fish with salad and mashed potatoes.
  • Snack2 of day is a chocolate cake with jalapenos.
  • For dinner she has palak aalo, rajma and daal with 4 rotis.

The actress cooks for herself too in order to understand her digestive system better. She generally follows a moderate diet. She is quite particular about her food being fresh. Her comfort foods are: eggs, veggies and bananas. She says a big no to sugar, aerated beverages and processed stuff.

In spite of living on a controlled diet, she does let it go out of control at times! She says that once she had 3 plates of butter chicken with six rotis and dal-chawal. To top it all she gorged on rasmalai later! It was pure bliss 😉

Nargis is not a gym person but she enjoys Zumba a lot. She does not even miss a session of the dance workout as it more of a stress buster for her. She has always been crazy for dance, as a kid she participated in several dance competitions. Even today whenever she gets time she dances to the tune of her favourite songs. She feels that dance keeps her slim and fit.

Fitness is just 70 to 80 percent diet and the remaining is exercise. You have to burn what you consume to stay in shape. When she was in the US, she used to play a lot of sports like tennis, volley ball, foot ball with the boys. She wasn’t driving a car there. She owned a bicycle and used to go on it to buy grocery. She even used to walk a lot. All this is not there in Mumbai because of the weather and pollution 🙁
