The cause of  psoriasis as per the experts is an immune system malfunction. In normal condition, skin cells form, then push up to the surface, and then eventually die and flake off. This process takes around a month time but in case of psoriasis, skin cells mature and move to the surface in just 3 to 4 days. These cells do not shed and instead pile up on the skin, forming the red itchy scales. Experts also say that in one-third of the cases it can be a genetic condition also.
