1) Honey cinnamon mask

How to make the mask?
- Mix two tablespoons of honey and a teaspoon if cinnamon to form a paste.
- After you clean your face, apply this mask and leave it for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Rinse off the mask and gently pat your skin dry.
2) Tea tree oil
Tea tree oil is well known for being able to reduce skin inflammation and fighting bacteria. However, this oil very strong hence it should be diluted before being applied to the skin.
- Mix one part of tea tree oil with 9 parts of water
- Dip a cotton swab into it and apply it to the affected areas of the skin.
- If required, apply a moisturizer
- Repeat the process 1 to 2 times a day to see results.
3) Green tea
Green tea is said to good for health as it has a good amount of antioxidants in it.
Applying green tea directly to the skin has known to be helpful in reducing acne. The major antioxidant present in green tea is known to reduce the production of sebum, reduce the growth of acne causing bacteria and fighting inflammation.
- Steep green tea in hot water for 3 to 4 minutes
- Let it cool down
- With a cotton ball apply it to the skin or spray it on your face with a spray bottle.
- Let it dry and then wash it off with water.
The remaining tea leaves can be added to honey to make a mask.
4) Aloe vera
Aloe vera is a commonly added to lotions, soaps, creams and ointments. It is used to treat abrasions, burns, rashes and other skin conditions.
Aloe vera gel when applied to the skin can treat burns, heal wounds and fight inflammation. It contains salicyclic acid and sulphur that are used a lot in acne treatment.
- Scrape off the gel from the aloe leaf with a spoon
- Apply the gel directly to a cleansed face as a moisturizer
- Do this 1-2 times a day.
You can use store bought aloe vera gel too. But it should be pure! It is one of the best remedies to reduce acne.

You can either get a good quality scrub from the store or make your own at home! To one teaspoon of sugar add a teaspoon of coconut oil and voila, your own scrub is ready. You can scrub your skin with it and then rinse it off. Do this once a day.
Choose a low GI diet
GI (Glycemic index) of a food is a measure of how fast it raises the blood sugar upon consumption. Eating foods having high GI can increase the production of sebum and contribute to acne. So, you should avoid sugary soft drinks, cakes, pastries, sweets and processed foods. Choose whole foods instead.
Bring down stress levels
When you are stressed out, your body releases hormones that can increase the production of sebum and cause skin inflammation. This can make acne worse. So, you need to find ways to relax. Sleep more, exercise well, practice yoga, take deep breaths and meditate.
