Many of you would agree that you don’t drink sufficient amount of water every day. You just don’t realise that your body needs water. However, the body is intelligent enough to give you clues that it needs more hydration. Here are some signs of dehydration that you should not ignore:

1) You get headaches without a reason

When you get headaches without a reason, it could probably be due to dehydration. So, the next time you land up with a headache just drink a few glasses of water, wait for about 10 mins and eat something. Your headache would probably disappear.

2) You become hungry even after having a meal

Your brain often tends to confuse the signals for thirst and hunger. So, when you feel that you are hungry, you actually are thirsty. So, instead of heading out to grab a cookie, try to drink a glass of water.

3) You feel tired and lethargic often

When you don’t hydrate yourself, your body gets forces to slow down so that it can conserve energy or resources. It makes you tired, lethargic and sleepy.

4) You are unable to concentrate

Do you know that 70 percent of the brain is composed of water. On getting dehydrated, your brain’s function slows down and you find it difficult to focus or concentrate.

5) Your skin gets dry

If you think that your skin is dry and lips are chapped due to weather, you are wrong; it could also be due to not drinking enough water. If you want to have a soft, smooth and glowing skin, ensure that you drink a lot of water.

6) Your urine is yellow

It is fine if your urine is clear or pale yellow. But if you find your urine to be dark yellow or brown, it indicates that you need to consume water immediately.

7) Your digestive system is affected

Other signs of dehydration include acidity, constipation and indigestion. Water is something that keeps your digestive system moving and wards off constipation. It also helps dilute the stomach acid so that you don’t have acidity.

Dizziness can be due to many factors such as lack of sleep or some kind of medication but dehydration can be another major cause of dizziness.

Your body does not produce sufficient saliva when you are dehydrated. Saliva is known to fight bacteria in the mouth but when there is not much saliva, bacteria get a chance to grow more and this results in a stinky mouth.

11) You have a dry mouth

If you have a dry mouth, it indicates that you are dehydrated. So, you need to keep water nearby and keep sipping on it. A dry mouth can be the side effect of medication too, so keep that in mind also.

12) You have achy joints and muscles

Water is known to lubricate your joints and muscles. Lack of it can result is joint and muscular pain.

If you have most of the above signs, it means that you are dehydrated. So, it is essential that you drink lots of water and keep yourself well hydrated.
