Top Remedies For Irregular Periods
For centuries parsley has been used for inducing period. It has two substances ‘apiol’ and ‘myristicin’, which stimulate the contractions of the uterus causing menstruation. You can have 6 g of dried parsley in a day. Consume 3 doses of 2 g each boiled in 150 ml of water. Alternatively, you can have parsley tea twice a day.
Cumin seeds or jeera belongs to the parsley family and is known to have a similar effect.
Making a concoction of carom seeds (ajwain) and jaggery helps in inducing periods, along with relieving menstrual cramps. Boil a teaspoon of carom seeds and a teaspoon of jaggery in a 1 glass of water and consume it on an empty stomach in the morning.
To advance your periods, the most effective remedy is to have a raw papaya. Raw papaya helps in stimulating the contractions in the uterus and inducing periods. You can have raw papaya or even papaya juice twice a day. Consume a cup of papaya juice or have a bowl of ripe papaya during the middle of the cycle.
Ginger is a powerful herb when we talk of promoting menstruation. However, it can cause acidity. Ginger is known to promote contraction of the uterus by increasing the heat around the uterus. You can have ginger tea, or have ginger juice with a little honey. Mix 2 parts of ginger juice and one part of water and have it every morning on an empty stomach before your usual date of periods.
Celery
Drinking the juice of celery is a safe and natural way for inducing periods. The juice of celery helps in stimulating blood flow to the uterus and induces menstruation.
Coriander seeds
Coriander seeds or dhaniya seeds are quite effective to treat irregular periods. Boil a teaspoon of coriander with 2 cups of water and wait for it to reduce to one cup. With a strainer remove the seeds and consume the concoction thrice daily for a few days before your period date.
Fennel seeds or saunf can be consumed for regulating your period. Add 2 teaspoons of the fennel seeds in a glass of water. Leave it overnight. Next morning strain the water and drink it.
Fenugreek seeds
By consuming fenugreek seeds (methi) boiled in water, you can get your periods.
Sesame seeds or til can help induce periods but they should be consumed in moderation as they generate a lot of heat in the body. Sesame seeds can be consumed 15 days before your expected period date.
Other foods which are good for menstruation
Pomegranate, aloe vera, carrot, jaggery, turmeric, dates, pumpkin, almonds, pineapple, grapes, yogurt, eggs, tofu, soya and fish are all good for menstruation.
