Ways To Boost Your Energy Through Breathing
Hello All!!
You are eating healthy but are still feeling drained out most of the time. If this happens to you let me tell you that you are not the first person to feel so. Most of us feel like this on a daily basis. Why? This is because you are letting in very little oxygen inside your system. Now how to boost energy? Simply breathe properly and your fatigue will vanish!
Being aware of your breathing
I can call all of us a species of shallow breathers!! Pay attention to the fact that when you are under stress you hardly breathe properly, you take short breaths just for survival. The trouble is that you hardly pay attention to your breathing pattern.
What is good breathing?
Good breathing refers to supplying the body with sufficient oxygen and also getting rid of unwanted air in the lungs. With shallow breathing you are just getting rid of a part of the unwanted air. The central nervous system is stimulated by proper breathing that releases tension.
Right way of breathing
The right way of breathing is breathing with the diaphragm. The diaphragm is a muscle beneath the rib cage. While breathing the right way you should feel the diaphragm pushing down into your tummy. Though not necessary but your abdomen going in and out during breathing is a good technique. The key is to use the diaphragm properly.
One should practice deep breathing for ten to twenty minutes a day. Even if your practice it for one minute every hour you can feel its benefits. It will remove stress and anxiety from the mind. Also good breathing can reduce acidity and incline the body towards alkalinity.
Breathing exercise
There are several breathing exercises devised by yogis that provide us with a lot of health benefits. These exercises are called pranayama. One such breathing exercise or pranayama is Anulom Vilom (alternate nostril breathing).
It is also called Nadishodhana pranayama.
The technique:
Step 1: Sit with your legs crossed
Step 2: Keep the left hand on the left knee with the index finger touching the base of the thumb
Step 3: Place the index and middle fingers of the right hand in between the eyebrows
Step 4: Close the right nostril with the thumb
Step 5: Inhale slowly and deeply from the left
Step 6: Close the left nostril with the ring finger
Step 7: Release the thumb to free the right nostril and breathe out.
Step 8: Inhale from the right, close it with the thumb; and removing the ring finger from the left nostril exhale.
This is the completion of one round.
You can repeat till 10 rounds.
Though pranayama is easy it is advisable to be done under a qualified yoga instructor. Doing it the wrong way can cause harm to your body.
