Winters are the time when it is so cold that you just can’t get up from bed :P. Am I right? You probably want to get into hibernation mode! The sky is cloudy with very little sunshine and the days are shorter. Before you realise it gets dark outside! Do you feel like watching your favourite TV show and enjoying the season? Hmm!! Winters! Isn’t it a great time for pakoras? No! You can instead have some healthy cutlets mad in just 1 tsp of oil! Recipe here! It will fulfil your desire for snacking that upsurges during this time of the year. People are usually in a celebration mood and invite friends over. Friends’ meet up means food! So are you going to break all the rules and eat to your heart’s content? No, right? You can still enjoy this season without letting your diet get affected. Why not try a hand at cooking up for your friends? Whip up traditional recipes with healthy ingredients. Stay healthy and spread the word!
Don’t be alone
Go ahead and meet your friends. It is not a good idea to cut off yourself from social life just because it is cold! Accept invitation of your friends or just call them over to your place. Loneliness can affect your immune system negatively. A study has found that people who are lonely are prone to inflammation and that result in Alzheimer’s, heart disease and type 2 diabetes.
Chalk out a few engaging indoor activities
If you don’t want to step outside due to the cold waves, you can have fun indoors too! Try cooking, DIY projects, working out at home and indoor sports. You can engage your friends and yourself in such activities and enjoy this season.
If you are someone who enjoys solitude, then do try cozying up in the corner with a good book in your hands. A cup of coffee along would be even more wonderful! Reading fiction will help you de-stress. Studies also show that reading fiction will help you understand other people’s feelings and also teach you to empathise with them. A book can do what humans can’t but this doesn’t mean that you should turn into a book worm. It is good to have a few hours for yourself each day but you should not totally cut off yourself from the world outside.
If you are on a vacation and spend the day lounging around the house then you need to make sure that your spine doesn’t get stiff and begin to ache. Make it a point to do simple and pain relieving stretches. Click here for more on doing the right kind of stretches.
No, I am not asking you to go in for an exclusive aromatherapy session. Just try to light aromatic candles in your room and relax. Breathe in the aroma of aromatic soaps and oils. Studies say that those inhale rejuvenating fragrances or go in for proper aromatherapy sessions are more likely to be happier than others. Whenever I feel sad, I breathe in the scent of my favourite perfume and that helps in uplifting my mood.
What are you waiting for? Just get from the quilt and engage yourself in something! I am sure that following at least one of the above tips will help you enjoy the season!
Say good bye to laziness this winter!
